Final numbers indicate that we raised over $10,000 from the Hope Walk for the Homeless. Proceeds will be distributed next year to the Rotary Clubs that participated based on their level of participation. All Rotary Clubs will donate to organizations that provide services to the homeless in our area. Besides our club, the Evanston Lighthouse Rotary Club had the greatest participation as a group. We also had participants from the Rotary Clubs of Evanston, Glenview Sunrise and Winnetka/Northfield, the Women's Club of Wilmette, Connections for the Homeless, La Casa Norte, Interfaith Action of Evanston, and many friends, neighbors and others who wanted to be part of this fundraising effort. Thank you to all who participated, including the volunteers who helped to set up and insure the event ran smoothly.

More pictures from our wonderful 100th Anniversary/Installation on June 20 with the Winnetka/Northfield Club. A good time was had by all; guests and Rotarians alike commented on the important work Rotary Clubs do and their impact on the world. June 30 (only 7 days from now) is the deadline for this year's EREY contribution. Every Rotarian should contribute what they can to this every year. Ray Z. or Terry P. will be able to tell each member how far away they are from their next PHF. Rememberpart of your contribution comes back toourClub tofund our service programs. Ray Zeiss has indicated that there are several members who are very close to becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, or adding to their PHF status, with credits from our past EREY contributions. Donations will be matched for those within $500 of reaching the next PHF.

Our Club has an active scholarship program and participates in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) whenever possible.
At its core, RYLA is intended to develop self-confidence and life-management skills in young people ages 14-30. RYLA organizers often target certain age groups or address specific needs and interests within the community. RYLA programs aim to develop leadership skills, instill a lifelong commitment to service, and empower young people to make the most of their lives.
A good way to combine support for RYLA and Golf is by joining in the RYLA Golf outing at the premier Lake Carroll Golf Course in Lanark Illinois, which was rated the 4th best public golf course in Illinois in 2022. The event is scheduled for Friday, June 7th and begins at 1:00pm with a shotgun start. Cost is $100 per golfer and includes lunch and dinner. "Tee it Up for Teens " registration is here: Registration and sponsorship opportunities. Questions should be directed to Sean Nelson RYLA Chair.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the U.S. The May 2024 issue of Rotary magazine devoted much of this issue to the topic. This is a great issue! Read about Rotary clubs in Colorado that stepped up when a hospital system declared an emergency on youth mental health. Learn how young people, on social media and on campus, are offering one another peer-to-peer support. And a great article about forest bathing as the skeptical author sees for himself how the practice taps into the therapeutic power of nature. I especially like the article about Forest Bathing.
Migrant Assistance - Many of the recent migrant children who were bused to Chicago this year will be attending Cameron Elementary (a Chicago Public School in West Humboldt Park). They are currently living in temporary housing. They urgently need school supplies and uniforms to support their education. Your donation can make a significant difference in helping these students succeed in their new learning environment. An Amazon Wishlist has been created so you can donate these needed items.
