Clean Water Project- Eswatini

A.J. Voth is a Board Rotary Liaison with Engineers in Action, also International Service chair of the St. Charles Breakfast Rotary. He will talk to us about a clean water project that is a partnership between Rotary, the Eswatini govenment and Engineers in Action. Eswatini is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa,it was formerly known as Swaziland. Over 150 schools there lack access to clean water and this project helps to train local teams, drill boreholes at schools and lays the foundation for sustainabe water access. |

Safety and Security in Wilmette

Wilmette Community Relations Police Officer, Carly Watson, will give a talk on safety and security topics, including cyber security, home security, personal safety, and more. Officer Watson also formed the first "co-responder" team in Wilmette, where she and a social worker have teamed up to respond to calls that require a more speciaized police response. |

Composting and Climate Change

Mary Beth Schaye is a zero waste consultant and worked for Collective Resource Compost Cooperative, food scrap hauling cooperative based in Evanston, Illinois for 14 years. She continues this work after their recent merger with The Urban Canopy. Their Compost Club is one branch of this unique, Chicago-based business, which has 7 branches, all related to keeping food production and food waste management local and sustainable. Mary Beth will give an overview about how diverting food scraps from landfills helps to mitigate climate change and explains how the container-swap commercial composting service her company provides helps both residential and commercial customers to be a part of the solution. Other related services of facilitating zero waste events and recycling of hard-to-recycle items are also covered. |
