The July 8 Wilmette Rotary Noon meeting hosted three students from Regina Dominican High School as well as Regina Dominican's Leadership Institute Director Julie Konigsberger. The 19 Rotary members in attendance got to hear first hand from three of the four students we sponsored for the Rotary Youth Leadership Program (RYLA) held in East Troy, Wisconsin. Carma Montoya (rising senior), Vee Deanda-Medina (rising junior) and Francesca Montaya (rising sophomore) each told us about their experiences at RYLA. A common theme was leadership and how there are multiple ways to lead. RYLA provided opportunities for the young women to have a deeper understanding of themselves and their unique leadership styles. We also were treated with a short video of various RYLA activities at the camp -- while we have sponsored many, many students over the years, we've never had a video showing us the camp and some of the activities.
