Our club has been notified that Rotary International has initiated payment in the amount of $34,168 for the Chitokoloki Mission Hospital Project in Zambia, led by Ray Zeiss. Ray has successfully funded the grant ($48k) with the participation of other clubs in the district. This important project will deliver urgently needed medical equipment to the Chitokoloki Mission hospital that meets the needs of the rural healthcare communities they serve. Chitokoloki Mission Hospital patients in Western Zambia come from near and far to seek the specialized medical care and treatment the hospital provides, including orthopedics, pediatrics, gynecology plastic surgery, and ophthalmology. The current facility has a 180-bed capacity and is undergoing a 40% bed capacity expansion. They began the hospital ward and medical clinic expansion in August 2023. The expansion has been a challenge straining their older equipment which badly needs updating. The goal is to supply medical equipment to the Chitokoloki Mission Hospital that meets the increased demand for healthcare services in the rural communities they serve through our implementing partner Project C.U.R.E. Congratulations to Ray and all of the members of the International Committee on this project!
Remember EREY. Every Rotarian should contribute what they can before the end of this Rotary year, June 30. If you contribute $100, that equates to only 27 cents per day or $1.92 per week. Ray Z. or Terry P. will be able to tell each member how far away they are from their next Paul Harris Fellow award (PHF). Rememberpart of your contribution comes back toourClub tofund our service programs. Ray Zeiss has indicated that there are several members who are very close to becoming a Paul Harris Fellow, or adding to their PHF status, with credits from our past EREY contributions. Donations will be matched for those within $500 of reaching the next PHF.
