Our largest fundraiser of the year is in full swing and should be on all members' To Do lists. Our Holiday Gift Fundraiser deadline for ordering products is December 7, and December 18 for Raffle Tickets. Monies raised will fund local and international projects and become part of the 2025-2026 budget process. Rotary members will also be at Panera in Wilmette on Saturday morning (December 7) from 9 - 10 a.m. to collect last minute orders.
Order pick up will be on Saturday morning from 9 - 10:30 a.m., December 14 at Carol Wells home (same as last year), located at 822 Chestnut in Wilmette. Please make arrangements for someone to pick up your orders if you are unable to do so.
The gift items this year include wines, chocolates, cheese, smoked salmon, olive oils, and more. Members are expected to purchase, sell, or donate to this fundraiser. It will be easy to attract friends and relatives to purchase holiday gift items, as the the list is extensive and tempting, AND they will be supporting a good cause. Wines were taste-tested by members who are wine lovers, and they are especially excited by the wine choices this year.
Great Raffle Prizes this year include $500 cash, Goodman theater tickets for "The Color Purple", Lake Geneva Private Boat Tour, and Cubs tickets.

We are kicking off our Holiday Gift Drive for Homeless in Chicago's West Side in coordination with The Sisters of Fraternite' Notre Dame who run the St. Roger Abbey French Organic Pa'tisserie in Wilmette. Their primary mission is to care for over 200 Homeless men and women in Chicago. We have partnered with them for over 4 years to gather needed items for their clients as winter approaches. We have put together an Amazon Gift Registry with the items they need. It is very easy to help. Click the link and go to the registry or search Wilmette Rotary 2024 Registry, click on an item or group of items and chose ship to Sister Valerie Marie directly and you are done. Here is the link directly to the list: GIFTS
Your receipt is your tax donation proof. Remember, do not ship it to you, select Sister Valerie Marie directly. They want to be able to hand out the needed items by December 20th. You can order sleeping bags, blankets, socks, hats and even personal items but please stick to the list. Feel free to share the link and post on social media. Anyone in America can order and gift to this cause.

Often our best meetings are those that feature our members. At the morning meeting on Wednesday, November 27, Rotarians shared some wonderful travel adventures. Frank Candioto highly recommended visiting the Guggenheim in Bilbao, Spain. Frank Cheswick made us want to go to Hvar, Croatia which was part of his trip to Switzerland, Venice and Croatia. John Wertymer and Frank Hussey reminisced and shared pictures from a mountain climbing trip in Nepal, just weeks after 911 in 2001 -- there were some near encounters with rhinos and elephants! Frank Hussey also recounted a trip to South America including Machu Picchi, the Amazon River and Iquitos, Peru. Jim Pockross recommended a trip to East Africa including Kenya and Tanzania as well as National Parks in Alaska and the western United States. JimWaite closed our program with beautiful pictures from a recent trip to Tahiti! We are a well traveled group!
