Improving Literacy in our Neighboring Communities

Richard’s interest in literacy began 14 years ago.  After his retirement from manufacturing, Rich was elected to a board position in School District 21 - a kindergarten to 8th grade district of 12 schools with 6800 students.   This assignment sparked his interest in literacy, especially early childhood education.  Since then, Richard spent 4 years as a member of the University of Arizona’s College of Education advisory board….and later as a member of US Representative Dold’s and State Representative Senate’s Education committees.  Richard’s focus, as our district’s literacy chairman, is on early childhood literacy.
