GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS:
From Tim Frenzer: Over the holidays I had cataract surgery on each of my eyes (they remove the lenses in your eyes and replace them with artificial lenses so you can see right again). The surgeries came out very well and I’m enjoying seeing everyone clearly at Rotary for the first time in a very long time.

Marcie Goldstein
Marcie has been a Wilmette resident for 19 years, having grown up near Starved Rock, IL; then attending the University of Illinois with a degree in nursing. Her work history includes OB/Gyne at U of I Hospital, a family planning clinic with minority teens and immigrants, Michael Reese Hospital in the clinic dealing with infertility, oncology and high risk pregnancy, psychologist with the VA Hospital, and counseling the under-privileged.
She and her husband Larry have been married for 27 years and have two children: Daughter Marlo graduated a valedictorian of New Trier High School, and #1 in her class at the University of Illinois. She is presently earning her MBA at Stanford and is employed by Bain & Co. in Chicago. Son Jay is a graduate of Purdue University in Civil Engineering and works in Los Angeles for Kiewit/Mass Electric. Larry was a commodity futures broker at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for 25 years.
Always a volunteer (District 39 school plays, recess, cafeteria, etc.), Marcie is now retired and anxious to become even more active in giving back to her community. She’s already been active in the club, working on the New Trier Food Drive, Family Matters, and the soup kitchen.
Welcome Marcie!
Michael Bretag
Michael grew up in Ottawa, IL, and was the oldest of five children. He was blessed with two sons, Christopher and Ryan. Tragically, his son Christopher and his wife passed in 2013. They had three children: McKenzie, Steven and Dallas. Son Ryan has two children: Finnian & Faelin. He works as an administrator for the Glenbrook school district at Glenbrook North High School.
Michael has two passions: His profession of over 35 years in the flooring business, and golf. He currently is the owner of Bretag Floor Source, Arlington Heights, working primarily with designers and architects.
An avid golfer since his father first gave him a set of clubs as a young boy, Michael has managed and promoted a number of golf outings for non-profit organizations. Not to be too pushy, but perhaps Michael can apply some of those skills for Wilmette Harbor!
Welcome, Michael!
