CLUB BIO: Held off to give our speaker more time.
SPEAKER: Author Russell Pelton
Russ Pelton is a veteran Chicago litigator who has retired from the practice of law and become an author. Describing his personal experience, Russ spoke eloquently of his realization that he needed to retire to something, not from something. Writing books is that something.
Russ described a trilogy of novels he is working on, the first of which (The Dance of the Sharks) has been published, and the second of which is nearing completion after fifteen drafts. Russ draws from his real world downtown law firm career, his life experience, ands his observations of how “The City That Works” really works to populate his stories with realistic characters in plausible situations.
Also insightful were his descriptions of his dealings with the characters inhabiting the literary world - agents, editors, publishers, and Amazon.
Good speaker.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 A.M.
